Julie's Story

Hi, my name is Julie. In Burmese my name is,
"Ma Kyue Lay" and now people call me "Daw Kyue Lay". Because I am adult now. So we have to put "Daw" in front of my name instead of "Ma".

I will share with you about my life now. I came from very poor family. My father passed away since I was 10yrs old. My parents were farmers. I have six siblings. I am the third one. So, after my father passed away my aunt sent me to the Yangon one of the capital city in Myanmar.

One day a stranger came and brought me to their home. They said they were Christians, but I think they were not born again Christians. I stayed with them for five years. They told me to clean whole house, so I did and they sent me to school.

They were not so good to me. They didn’t treat me well. They didn't give me enough food. They didn't bring me to the hospital or gave medicine when I felt sick. They didn't care what happen to me.

They just want me to work and work for them. So, finally I could not stand it anymore. I asked them to let me go back to my village. So they let me go back to my village in 2004.

I did not finished my grade 10, after I went back to my village to mom. I worked in a local restaurant for almost 3 yrs., as a waitress. My boss were so good to me. They treated me as one of their daughter. I feel they were true Christians.

And so, one day an Evangelist came to the restaurant and asked me if I wanted to go to three months of bible training or not. So I asked my boss to let me go and they allowed me to.

I went three months of bible training in another village then a preacher who was the founder of Canon Theological Bible College chose me among 9 students to go to college which was in Yangon Angon. So in 2007 I went to Yangon to bible college for four yrs.

They taught us English, so I thank God because now I can write and speak English. I do thank God for everything that happened to me because I know he has a plan for me. I went through so much difficulties.

So now I can share this with you all. So, I finished my bible course in 2012. Then went back to my village and served God in my village for almost 3 yrs. But after that I went to Singapore to work.

I worked as a house keeper for the sake of my family. We didn't have enough food and I am the only one who can speak or write Burmese and English. So I worked in Singapore for one and half yrs.

And I went back to Myanmar from Singapore in 2016. And then after that I went to Thailand as a translator in 2018. I went there as a translator, but God sent me to “Blessing Home” which is a kids Home and I stayed there in Mae Sae in Thailand for 8 months.

Afterwards, I went to Tachiliek to kids home which is called “Shalom House” now. I stay there for 7 months then I went back to my Village in 2019. Some asked me to take care of kids. So I started taking care of kids in 2019 in my home with my elderly mom who is sick and has hip pain from her fall.

I have 13 kids living with me. These kids need to be taken care and taught about Jesus Christ! I want to let you know that these kids are not orphans . Their fathers and mothers are drug users and very poor.

Their parents do not take good care of them because of drug addiction. I know God do not want kids to perished by drugs. A lot of kids are perishing by drugs like their fathers and mothers which is very sad to me.

The place that I am living in is not my own. But trust and know that God is going to bless us with our needs in time!

So, please keep us in your prayers!
